Karaoke Smart is a cloud-based karaoke song repository and streaming management system for the Karaoke Entertainment Industry. Karaoke Smart is integrated to a family of apps for mobile devices (smartphones and tablets) and SmartTVs with features like SmartSearch (by artist name, song title, segment of lyrics, or tune humming), SmartMicrophone (converts the Smartphone into a wireless microphone), song requests, rankings and orders. Karaoke Smart is also a community for Karoke lovers from around the world, allowing to connect and share experiences, songs and talent using social media and social networks, such as Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, etc. It has been selected by the Startup Chile Program starting from July 31, 2013.

Interview with Team M&Z, creators of Karaoke Smart:

Q. Please tell us why you chose your project. Where did the idea come from? What inspired you?

A. We love to sing in karaoke pubs but we were tired of wasting time browsing huge song catalogues and trying to find songs by artist name or song title and making song requests by code numbers and many times we just remembered a part of the song lyric or the tune of the song, We are engineers so we thought this was a very simple problem to solve with technology. After discussing the idea, we began the development of Karaoke Smart as an app to make it easy to search and order for songs directly from the smartphone. Later, we realized that the system we had developed had a huge application for Home Entertainment, so we started the Development of our APP for SmartTVs and other great features for our project with potential to reach a global market.

Q. Do you plan to start a business with your project? If so, please explain what you’ve done so far and what you expect to do.

A. We have already started a business with our project. We now consider Karaoke Smart to be a startup company. We have been very fortunate to have been selected as a winner in the Start-Up Chile Program from the Government of Chile where we will be accelerating our Startup from July 31, 2013. Thanks to the Public Relations and Media Exposure of Karaoke Smart winning Imagine Cup PERU, we have been able to develop partnerships with amazing companies such as LG Electronics, NOKIA and stakeholders in the Music and Karaoke Industry in Latin America. In addition, we are already negotiating potential seed capital investment from Angel Investors in the region and we have applied to the Wayra Accelerator Program.
